Based on the play by Jean Poiret.
Present day in St. Tropez. Jean-Michel prepares to bring his fiance home to meet his parents - his father, and his father's gay partner. Unfortunately, the fiance's family is very conservative, and Jean-Michel would rather not have them meet his dad's lover. No problem - his lover is a female impersonator, and can pretend to be his mother!
Many people may better recognize this story as The Bird Cage - the movie version which starred Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.
Audition Preparation Suggestions for
La Cage Aux Folles
Albin and the Cagelles should be able to dance well for their production numbers in the night club.

Please note: The chorus of men who play the Cagelles are meant to take it seriously - no hairy legs! Bringing high heels to the audition and knowing how to walk/dance in them would be a definite asset. |
- George (40s)
- Owner of "La Cage Aux Folles" nightclub. Handsome, caring, patient. A strong singer. John Forsythe type.

-
- Marie Dindon (48-52)
- Anne's mother; shy, retiring, sexually repressed and sex-starved; good singer and actress who moves well; must look great in a leotard for the finale.
