The Lion King is the story of Simba, the young cub prince. The first part of the show details his young life and his anticipation of one day becoming king. When Simba's father is tragically killed, Simba blames himself and retreats into the jungle where he remains until he has grown to a young adult. Eventually, Simba must return to his kingdom to face his fears and rescue his subjects from Scar, his selfish & cruel uncle.
